Cancer research under Dr. Jani Lewis: “The Comparison of Proteins of the Adherens Junction of the A-431 Cell Line to Other Carcinoma Cell Lines” (Summer 2003- May 2004). Techniques used include SDS Gel Electrophoresis (Western Blot Analysis ) and Immunofluorescense to compare the cadherin proteins of different cell lines after treatment with dexamethasone. Presented research proposal in front of biology faculty and students; April 2003; Questions I proposed and ended up trying to solve through research include: What proteins of the Adherens Junction (AJ) in the A-431 cells are in the other cell lines? Does dexamethasone downregulate proteins of the AJ in the other cell lines? What proteins of the AJ are downregulated in each cell line? Is there desmosome formation?; Gave poster presentation at SUNY Geneseo’s “Math and Science Symposium”; won cash reward for best poster; April 2004

Education
Enrolled in Allied Health Program (New Visions) 10 credits, 140 hours of job shadowing in medical field: Class I took my senior year of high school that got me interested in the medical field (September 1999-June 2000). These are some areas I job shadowed:

Allied Health was the reason for my interest in the medical field. It led to my going into premed at SUNY Geneseo. From Monday through Wednesday I had lectures in: anatomy and physiology, introduction to health care, medical microbiology, and also had some lab time for anatomy and physiology. On Thursday and Friday I went to my job shadow site.
Sports and Hobbies
Hockey: 3 varsity letters, Unsung Hero Award, played organized hockey from 1986-2000 including AAA summer hockey in Ontario, Canada for 5 years
Football: 2 varsity letters, Unsung Hero Award, played organized football from 1991-2000
Lacrosse: 2 varsity letters, played organized lacrosse from 1994-2000
Water Skiing: started at age 6 and still enjoy
Snow Skiing: Three times a year on average
Hiking and Camping: I go to a hunting camp in the Adirondack mountains, go out on the St. Lawerence River and camp on a couple different islands, and go to my grandparents cottage in Quebec, Canada on the St. Lawrence River.
